Karviná

In this project, we helped with the rerouting of the cycle path in the town of Karviná. Our task, in cooperation with the company Plosab, was to remove a thin layer of sediment at the bottom of the lake.

After less than a month of preparatory work, we started dredging and dewatering the sediment on August 15, 2022. Dredging was carried out using a floating suction dredger MATES, owned by the PLOSAB company. The movement of this machine is ensured by ropes anchored to the shore, which causes longer downtimes when re-anchoring. During the resulting downtime, we dredged the sediments with our small suction dredger Laborec. In addition to increasing the efficiency of the work, continuous dredging ensured the continuity of the hydromixture supply to the drainage line PG 03 with two centrifuges Z 73 and Z 92.

This project was specific in the location of sediment, as the whole volume of sediments was in a thin layer evenly over the entire water area. For us, this means a high ratio of water to the solid component in the mined hydromix. After processing the sediments in our drainage line, the excess water was returned to the lake. During the first month in Karviná, we worked from Monday to Friday for 12 hours a day, and in November, the last month of dredging we started a non-stop regime. For the entire duration of the project, we managed to export 4611,75 tons.

After last measuring, we found that the remaining quarter of the lake contains approximately 5 thousand m3 of bottom sediment. The dredging of the rest of the lake is planned for next year.
